An unsettled week is in store for the Mountain State, with a series of storm systems and fronts set to move through the region. After a small snow event early Monday morning, temperatures will warm to well above average Tuesday ahead of the first of these systems. Expect scattered showers, and perhaps even an isolated thunderstorm, throughout the area Tuesday into the overnight hours. The front will pass through the morning on Wednesday with gusty showers and temperatures will fall quickly by the drive home. A hard freeze is likely across most of the region into Thursday morning, but warming will drive the highs back into the upper 50s and 60s by Friday as the next storm system gets set to move through in time for the weekend.
Needless to say, just figuring out how to dress for a week like this could be a challenge. So, how does the weekend look? Saturday will be a great day to stay inside... a slow moving cold front will cause a cold, raw rain to fall through most of the day. Highs will remain too warm for snow, at least for the first part of the day, but a few wet flakes will be possible in the mountains closer to sunset. Sunday will be much dryer, but don't expect temperatures to get out of the 40s - with the exception of a few spots in the Southern Coalfields. Overall, the crazy variance in this week's weather is a sign that early spring has finally arrived with the hopes of warmer and dryer times ahead.
